Environmentally friendly
Netprotect the GREEN choice!
Bestnet A/S is committed to the environment and employs every
green methodology we can in the manufacture of Netprotect®. From recycling
materials to powering manufacturing facilities with wind energy, Bestnet is
constantly developing new ways to reduce our impact on the environment.
Alternative packing solutions
In addition to our standard and customized bag options, Bestnet now offers two alternative packaging options that provide green solutions: bulk packaging and oxo-degradable bags.
Bulk packaging
The first alternative packaging option, bulk packaging, is in response to the concern that individually packaged nets often result in large volumes of plastic bags left scattered around villages. Bestnet has created an option for customers who would prefer to completely eliminate the need for an individual bag.
With bulk packaging, each individual Netprotect® net is folded around the instructions for use and is secured with a strap, eliminating the need for a bag. These strapped nets are then compiled into bales. And, the customized straps can be personalized with your logo at no extra cost.
As an added bonus, since this method of bulk packing decreases volume and weight per individual bale, you can save approximately 3% on transportation costs if you opt for this method of packaging. Be sure to ask about this environmentally friendly and cost saving alternative when you place your next order for Netprotect®.
Oxo-degradable bags
Conventional plastics will typically take hundreds of years to degrade if left in the environment. Our new oxo-degradable bags are made of polyethylene (PE) with a 2% Green Ready® additive that accelerates the natural degradation process. Netprotect® oxo-degradable bags are completely free of the heavy metals often found in other biodegradable materials.
Whenexposed to common environmental conditions, the degradation process begins as the Green Ready® additive catalyzes the molecular breakdown of the bag. The degradation of Netprotect® oxo-degradable bags can be triggered by exposing the bag to one or more of the following environmental conditions:
• Sunlight (outdoor UV light exposure)
• Excessive Heat (landfills, open spaces, etc.)
• Mechanical stress (wind, rain, etc.)
Knowing that LLINs are often stored in warehouses for long periods of time before distribution, Bestnet has carefully chosen to use the 2% Green Ready® additive which renders our Netprotect® bag less vulnerable to degrade in heat and under the mechanical stress than other biodegradable bags. Once exposed to outdoor conditions, the degradation process begins in full.
